A quick comment on the line:
Originally, sulfites were blamed for headaches associated with red wine, and so every bottle of wine sold in America bears the Contains Sulfites notice.
The Sulfite warning on the label is not because of the previously suspected connection to red wine headaches. Sulfite allergy is a rare but real and potentially fatal reaction, hence products with a relatively high sulfite content need to be labelled.

Hey there! Actually, many California chardonnays do not go through malolactic fermentation, but they won t be the buttery chards many associate with the state. I m not up on the California chardonnay scene at the moment, but I recommend this wine blog: http:///. Wine writer Marcy Gordon regularly writes about California wines, and you ll find lots of good info there. She may also have a few recommendations on hand.
Thanks for the great information. Can you suggest any CA chardonnays that dont malo? I read that Chateau Montelena doesn t, and although I really like it, I am looking for something more reasonable. thanks!
